Now known as "Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System". Well now I know why this product is so expensive. It contains 10 CDs, 9 of which I don't need! A book on vb.net and NO DOCUMENTATION WHATSOEVER regarding anything else, including installation sequence or dependancies!

1. SQL Server 2000
2. SQL Server 2000, Developer Edition
3. Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
4. Visual Studio.net
5. Visual Basic.net (standard)
6-8. MSDN library
9. Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office System
10. Access 2003 Developer Extensions

OK, I admit I don't have the Developer Edition of SQL Server. But I don't even know what it is. Do I need it?

SQL server 2000 Developer Edition= MSDE
you can only connect to the MSDE using VB.NET standard and its' native database connection. Otherwise, for SQL 2000, you have to hand code the database connection to it.

I just found the features comparison charts between the various versions. The Developer Edition contains all the features of the Enterprise edition except that you aren't supposed to use it for production support, only development. So I guess I will install it:)
Features Supported by the Editions of SQL Server 2000
