Forms,opening form view of a query or table to enter related details to customer.

I am working on a database for my customers, that will produce reports on their jewellery.
Giving full descriptions with breakdown and values.My problem at the moment is once having entered New Customer details i move to another form ie:Ring details to enter a description of a ring,but unable to link the two.I have of course linked these two tables as one to many using customerIDfield,but the current customerid does not show automatically. I have to select the customer again using the combo box.As there can be many different item types with their corosponding tables or forms,i would not want to select the same customer for every form but have them appear in each as the current customer.Please help i am getting dizzy running in circles.

Set the default value of the linked field in your child form to the CustmerID value on the parent form - Forms![ParentFormName]![CustomerID]
