Hi,

Is there any way to code my report to freeze panes like MS Excel?
When I scroll right I lose track of the Agent name and when I scroll down I lose the headings. On large reports this creates more confusion than I would like. Is there anything that will assist me with this? VBA / header command / field command... something?

Thanks,
Canadian

In MS Access, the purpose of Reports is to create static documents that will be printed. You can certainly view them on screen if you wish, but that's not really what MS had in mind with the Reports object group. On screen view and/or management of data is handled through Forms. The Forms object group is where you will find various tools (continuous forms, tab controls, etc.) that are designed to help you manage on screen display of a lot of information without having scrolling issues or the like.

With the world moving to paperless it would be great to see the purpose of the reports change...
I will take a look at converting my reports to forms when I figure out how to get it to do what I want it to.
Thanks,
Canadian

Think carefully about which way to go. Reports have a number of facilties for grouping or cumulative sums etc that are hard to make in forms. But reports are exportable to Excel, where you can freeze panes ad libitum.

I have, e.g., a hybrid app where Access is mixed in with Excel and Word - each application does only what it's best at, instead of investing oodles of time to recreate Word or Excel functionality in Access.

Well crap then... I need the cumulative sums etc...
Yes they can export to excel (with formatting), but not with the group footers (totals) working properly. I can save an export (with formatting and layout) so that the footers show properly, but if I assign that saved export to a command button it doesn't work properly either (reverts back to with formatting).
Looks like a lose lose situation until MS decides that people don't always want the report for printing...
