Hi All,

I think that I’m probably wasting everyone’s time with this request but on the off chance that it can be done here goes.

I have a particularly wide sub form that you need to use the horizontal scroll bars to see the fields on the right hand side. This unfortunately takes off screen the first field containing the name of the subject.

My question is, is there any way of freezing the first field so that it can be seen when scrolling across the form?

Regards

Make the controls narrower or display the subject name in the main form Caption using the subforms Current Event

Hi Rich,

I cannot make the fields any smaller and the sub form caption isn't shown when its part of a main form, is there anything else I can try?

If you right click the column you want to freeze, you get a Freeze column option in the sub menu. I think the Freeze/Unfreeze option comes under the Format tab to.

I agree it would be ideal to use datasheet view, however I want to control the field captions at run time, so I have to use continuous form. I've tried using: Me.Parent.Caption = Me.txtDescrip in the on Open, On Load, on Current and on got focus events and nothing happens, I've even tried to adding Me.Parent.Refresh and still get nothing.

You have to replace txtDescric with the name of the control you want to display from your subForm. The code goes in the subForm OnCurrent event

Hi Rich,

I have tried it on the On Current event using [EmpName] the name of my control and all it succeeded in doing was to slow down the opening of the form, It had no effect on the the parent form's caption.
