Get Date from a string

I have been struggling to figure this out. looking forvba code
Importing a xlsx file into acc2k7.
Using windows API browser to select the file on the server to import The full file path is stored in a txtbox (tbxPath) on the form
ex: z:\\Share\WebFilevacancies as of 11-11-12.xls.
Looking for a way to get the date from the filename to be appended to records in the imported table.
Thanks - sugestions, sample code appreciated.
