get network pc info

hi

is it possible to get information about pc's, servers etc on my network i.e. hardware, software, computer name etc.

it's for an asset db and i really don;t want to have to go round to each machine and get the info.

This is a WMI Scripting type question. If you search the net you may find some information about this but it's not going to be easy.

Can't you remote connect into each machine to get the info?
Can your Systems Administrators not help? This is where you should be getting the info from.

i've been tasked with creating an asset register of our it assets. i REEEAAALLY don't want to have to go round to all 250 pc's and manually get the hardware/software info.

Like I mentioned, this is what your Systems Administrators are there for. Ask your Sys Admins for this info.
