The GetOpenFilename in excel works like this:
theFile = Excel.Application.GetOpenFilename

This pops up your system file directory and lets you browse for a file. And then sets your object (theFile) to the filename and you can do whatever using the filename (open, save, etc.). WORKS GREAT in excel. Alot better than typing in the path anyways. But access doesnt have this option. Anyone know the alternative code?

Thankya Much,

Looks as if that would work...

And thank you for your response. Which was an excellent one.
But im a begginner practically to VB. I've taken one class of it. And it seems that the code you just showed me may work but i'm not necassarily wanting to use the open or save dialog box. I'm looking for the dialog box that is used to just get the filename. Maybe that code will work. Not sure yet. But it just seems like there would be a more simple means of accomplishing it. Like in excel, using one line of code, all you have to do is set a control or variable = Excel.Application.GetOpenFilename
And that's it. It does nothing other than get a filename. Then you can decide what you want to do with the file. Instead of using the open file or save file dialog box that automatically performs the action on the file. Any other ideas out there as well this one?

Thanx a million,
Daxton
