Getting Default Value to Stick

Hello. I have a field defined as text called InvoiceNo. I want the default value to be 00-0000. However, 00-0000 converts itself to 0-0 when I save the field properties. What am I doing wrong? TIA.

What data type is it?

Have you tried using quotes "00-0000"?

The quotes worked (it is a text data type). Heel of hand slapping forehead. I should have known this. Sorry...it's Friday (that's my excuse). Thanks a million!
