Somewhere in the Watercooler there is a joke section that includes one of mine regarding COBOL programmers.
No, it never ends. I worked for a company that did oil and gas pipeline control systems and was called to determine if I was interested in upgrading a particular system that was literally 30 years old. It was still running but had to be modified for some new regulations regarding reports. Fortunately I knew someone else who had that skill (had worked with me) and could do the job - so I gave him the phone number.
