Long-time Access user here, but I've had a decade away from programming and databases to pursue other goals.

I now find myself dropped right back in it after my father-in-law asked for my opinion on a spreadsheet he was designing and I told him it was the wrong tool for the job, and that he needed to be using a database.

Scary how much stuff I've forgotten...

It's the right tool for him, he doesn't know anything else. It's the wrong tool for the job he was trying to get it to do, though.
