Hi,

Just wondering, how do I create a help file? Also, how does the 'What's This?' button work?

How can I set up my database to contain these helpful tools?

Thanks,

If you were to press F1 on an object's Help Context ID property you would have seen this in help.

To create a custom Help file, you need the Windows Help Compiler and a rich-text format (RTF) text editor, such as Microsoft Word.
You can create a custom Help file to document forms, reports, or applications you create with Microsoft Access.
When you press the F1 key in Form view, Microsoft Access calls the Windows Help application, loads the custom Help file specified by the HelpFile property setting for the form or report, and displays the Help topic specified by the HelpContextID property setting.

Where can you obtain the Windows Help Compiler? I had thought it would have been on my PC, but I don't seem to be able to locate it, and IS don't appear to know what it is, let alone where it is. Or is it something that you have to buy? TIA (and sorry to hijack your post, Steve):)

I think it's part of the Access Developer's Kit rather than just the basic Access as part of Office kit.

I've certainly never seen it - either that or I just don't know we have it.

Seeing that I don't have the Developers version, is there anything similar I can do?
