Help! How to Filter Listbox Results

Hi. I have several forms where I allow users to search records by selecting from comboboxes or keywords. The results are displayed in a subform. Is there anyway to do this with a listbox? I tried basing a listbox off of the same query the subform is based off of and adding a requery to the search button's click event, but it does nothing. I do see the listbox flash for a half-second when I add the requery, but it still displays all results instead of filtering. I tried adding the requery using various different syntaxes that I found on google and tried putting it in different spots... to no avail.
