DescriptionAll: "General: " & [Copy] & "Atheletes: " & [Riders] & "Locations: " & [Locations] & "Bonus Material: " & [Bonus] & "Review: " & [Review]

this is a SQL i made in a query to combiner several fields into one to print.... all the fields that i am combining are MEMO... but it seems that this is set to TEXT.... in the query i dont see an obvious way to select the format.....

how can i format DescriptionAll to MEMO.

Also... can you enter formatting here of the strings. ? ?
Eg >>> can i make General Bold followed by to linebreaks.

Thanks.

You shouldn't be doing that in the query. You should do that in a report. Then you can concatenate your fields into a text box and add all the formatting etc.

Queries are for manipulating data to be used by either forms or reports or to export to other applications data style applications eg Excel, Oracle etc. Reports are to show data in the visual style that you find aestheticaly pleasing and to export to word applications in rtf format etc.

it is to export out to an excel document.... i just need to do this once. . . and the query would be used for that purpose.

Can you export Reports to XLS, CSV, ect. ? ?

Thanks.

i dont need it to look pretty... i just need all the information

Why don't you export the data as is ie the seperate memo fields and then in Excel concatenate and bold etc. You have to bear in mind the following points

1/ Excel cells are limited to the amount of characters that they can hold

2/ Access when exporting to Excel seems to use old versions of Excel as its limitations. (there is a recent post where someone found that the information was truncated after 127 characters in a string.) If that happens on your version of Access then puttign memo fields together is going to cause even more problems!

In answer to your other question, yes you can export reports to Excel

is there any way around this..... 127 characters... .this is vital to me to have.
