Hi all,

I need to make some changes and delete some combo boxes in a form. The combo boxes are getting there text from a table, I made changes to the table, delete some of the combo boxes from the form, delete and make some corrections to the VBA codes. When I go into the forms to use it, it is giving me this error message "Table maintenance has occured. Please close all screens to refresh". When I say ok, it brings out the form but all text are not showing. Pls help, what am I doing wrong.

thanks

Not to be unkind, kasa74, but what you've done is the equivalent of opening the hood of your car, disconnecting every wire and hose and part, throwing away some of these, then reconnecting the wires and hoses and parts that are left, sometimes the same and sometimes differently, and then calling your mechanic on the phone and asking why your car doesn't start!

If you're lucky, and have a backup copy of your database, you need to start over, make one change at a time, and evaluate what you've done before making the next change.

And
never,
ever,
never ever
make the changes to your production db.

Always make those changes
to a copy and
the 'copy' should not be your back up! :D

Thanks missinglinq, I tried what you recommended, but I am still having the same error message

No, I cannot help since you have not told us what you tried. Be descriptive, please, and someone will take a look at it.

Thanks, George!

Where in the "make one change at a time, and evaluate what you've done before making the next change" process, kasa74, did you encounter problems?

What I want to do is to delete some combo and text boxes from a form. My major challenge is that the text box (not the drop-down) that is in the combo box gets its text that it displays on the form from a table. So do I delete the text first from the table, then delete the combo box from the form in design view? or how do I go about it.

thanks

Ignore the table and just delete the fields from the Form. Check to make sure everything works between deletions.

After the fields are gone from the form, you can address the table (if required).

Hi georgedwilkinson,

I ignored the table, deleted the field from the form, the VBA codes pop up when I tried to use the form again. The VBA codes brought up the compiler error message that says variable not found, it highlighted the name of the field I deleted in the form, then I deleted these variables also in VBA code, save the codes and tried using the form again, but all the other fields in the form came up blank. Please help.

Please post the database here with specific instructions on which form.field you deleted and what subroutine has the error you're referring to.

Hi George,

How can I attached a file to you through this thread. or can you give me your email adddress.
thanks

Click Go Advanced, and you will find the paperclip symbol to attach your db - like all window attahments. I recommend zipping the puppy up first

I tried posting the DB but it is too big. I thinK I now know why I am getting the table maintenance error. I can not ignore the table like George said, if I ignore the table, I still get the table maintenace error. What I am doing now is I delete the record from the table, then delete the combo box from the form. Debugg the VBA codes. It works well for a minute. Then by the time I close the DB, open the form again to use, the error comes up again, then by the time I go to check the table, the record that I delete will be showing again. Pls help!!!!!

This is quite a dilemma. There's really no way I can help you without seeing the exact problem or without a much better description from you about the problem.

With all respect and realizing that I sincerely want to help you, I don't believe you are going to be able to describe your problem to the level of detail that I can help you.

Anyone else have a solution?

Kasa, how big is the file? Have you thought about posting it anywhere else? If the file is <10Mb you should be ale to email it to me. I can stick it up on my webspace then for others to take a look at.

Hi fearoffours or george,

I have been able to figure out where the problem is, it is my table. When I delete a field from the form, then I have to go to the table (that has the textbox questions )to delete the record i.e. the question that I deleted the field. Everything will work fine, but by the time I go to use the form another time, it will bring out the table maintenance error by the time I go to check the table, the record I deleted will have reappear again, pls help. why is the deleted record reappearing in the table when the form is opened?

Thanks
