Hi, I am a newbie a access

But i have tried to deal with with an old db.

It is a .mde file and I have the .mdb as well.

I won to make some changes in the reports and in some queries. But when i import the data it is only the Tables og formular there shows up. Not the switchboard forms.

I have access 2007 and will make a new .mde-format 2007 .accde - i think that is the new name.

Could you please tell me how do I get all the reports and formulars and queries and tables open from the .mde file.

Sorry if I miss something...

Try importing everything from the .mdb file and not from the .mde.

You should be able to just open the .mdb file in Access 2007 and work with it. I would make a backup copy of the .mdb file before attempting to work with it.

I did not work out correctly!

I know I am not a good worker in access but earlier i have made some db.

But I can not get it to work with that .mde And there is a lot of reports that I dont won to make again...

Exactly what did not work. You really need to provide more details so we can have an idea of what you are seeing.

You will not be able to open the .mde in design view. That is the nature of an .mde file and they are made for that exact reason.

Were you able to open the .mdb file? Depending on how that file is setup, you have have to hold the shift key down when opening the file and continue to hold the shift key down until the file is completely open. That will prevent any form from loading when the file opens.

Okay I will try to be more specifik.

I can open the .mdb file with out problem and make changes inside. But it does not match the .mde file with all the reports and queries it only contain the tables.

Then I have tried to import the .mde and when I have done that the reports "window" and the query "window" are unable to select the listed files/reports ect.

Why can I not get those files/reports

When you have made your changes and created report and/or queries, you must creaate a new .mde type file. You will not be able to add your changes to your existing .mde file.

If you are using Access 2007, you will be creating a .accde file as you said in your original post.

Yes, but so are I missing all the reports and queries from the original .mde and .mdb and the switchboards so i have to make new ones...

It sounds like to me that the back end is an mde a well. He has got the mde/mdb of the back end but not the mdb of the front end.

What are the names of the mdb and mde files?

c:/Gj data.mdb

I:/Gj 2.2.mde

The mde file can be anywhere but the .mdb must be at the root

c:/Gj data.mdb

I:/Gj 2.2.mde

Normally the MDB is sat on the shared server location where all the data tables are stored.

The MDE is normally the distributed front end that is located on each end users machine.

Your names suggest this in reverse, where as Gj Data.mdb is on the Local machine but indicates that this holds the data. Conversely the mde - which is normally the front end is located on the I:drive the server.

Have you got a file called Gj 2.2.mdb?

So how did 2.2 get its name?

Was there ever a 2.2 mdb?

What is the contents of this mde?
Does it contain the queries and forms, etc?

Was there ever a 2.2 mdb?

I really dont know, because it is a old DB and the owner is a club with a chairman. We dont know how it original was setup.

But it makes sense to me as you wrote:
Was there ever a 2.2 mdb?
I think that must be the problem and I must make my own form scratch.

Before you do that send me both the mde and mdb and I will tell you how to proceed.

btw. why are all my replys hang when * I submit...

It like a statistic-page it just roll-on - but my replys are comming throw.

pixel.quantserve.com....

Okay, that doesnt matter!!!

Thanks for all of your help.
