Help With A Query (1 Viewer)

Hi,

Basically i have two tables, one of which uses an autonumber field, i have a query set up that transfers a record from the table with the autonumber to another table (with no auto number), i want to create another query that will keep the autonumber in the first table but still move everything across, this is so that when the transfer happens another user cannot create a new record that the previous table with the autonumber has given,

any help??

Im not sure I understand your question..
is this a one-off exercise?
