Help with calculating Totals and subtotals in a report

I'm building a report that shows some compliance reports based on a school district, teacher and student. These three are groupings also in the report. If the student is compliance with all the requirements, the total for the student footer should calculate a yes.

At the footer for the teacher, I would like a total of compliance students (basically a sum of the checkboxes in the student footer) and at the end of the district the sum of all of them.

I'm trying to use a hidden text box with a running sum, but for some reason, in the report view is not shown in every part of the report, in the print preview it is.

Why is this and how can I accomplish the sum for the totals? Attached are some screen captures to help.
