Help with Query

Hi everyone. I have a question about a query and wondering if something is possible. I am hoping the experts here will be able to help me.

I have a report that I have to complete based on claims paid data which is broken down by month. Currently I have a query set up to get me the data, but I have to do it month by month. So first I query and get the paid amount for August 04, then September, etc...so after doing this for a few reports I start thinking, with technology today there is no way I should be having to copy and paste this stuff. So I started messing with my query and doing some research to see if there is a way to get it to group the data how I want, but haven't had any luck.

So I was wondering if I could create a query based on data with various paid dates in each month..for example there are like 4 paid dates in each month. What I need to do is be able to have a query that groups the sum of the paid amount by Month. Not each individual date, but by a range of dates. So each row would be contain the sum of paid amounts from 08/01/04 thru 08/31/04, 09/01/04 thru 09/30/04, 10/01/04 thru 10/31/04, etc. Is this possible?
