Bit of an Access amateur!

Hope someone out there can help me! I work for a small company and we're using access to store information on our customers. I need to make a copy to send to our sister company, this i have done but it says it is 'read only'. i need to make a copy that we are able to update!!

How do you make it not 'read only', please help i am going insane!

Blofthouse,
The sister company need to "right-click" on the file you have sent them (when they have saved it to a location) and click 'Properties'. Then from the properties they window which pops up, they need to untick the 'Read Only' box.

The next time they open it all should be well again.

If you emailed it or put it on a CD for them it can sometimes mark it as 'Read Only'.

HTH,

David

Tried that and message says "unable to set attributes"

The database i am copying from had passwords and security set up on it but i think i have disabled all of them!!

For some reason it is copying in 'read-only' format.

Any ideas?

Afraid I'm not that 'up' on Access Security yet so I'm sure someone far, far more knowledgable than I on the subject will be able to help you out there.

David

Don't forget that if you had workgroup security in the DB, you have to do two more things.

1. Copy the workgroup file (.MDW)

2. Join it on the other machine before attempting anything.
