I am new to this enviornment but my problem is i are writing an application which consists of tables and forms ... but when i clicl on the icon to start the application - unlike in VB where u create the EXE an it starts a standalone application when i do this in Access i get the Access Window opening is there a way to start the application similiar to like in VB ????

Maybe i need a macro or the like ???

I am talking about the MAIN Access Program here not the internal one that shows the formas and the tables are listed..

From the Tools menu select Startup. In the 'Display Forms/Page:' field select the Form that you want to show when your program starts. Also in that dialog box you can choose to hide the database window if you like by unchecking 'Display Database Window'.

After reading Randomblink's response I reread your question and it would appear that you want to start Access and have a specific program run. Search help for Starting Applications and then Starting Microsoft Access with command-line options....

Well, if you want the users to be able to access the tables I can't help you...

But if you are restricting the users to ONLY the forms/reports you have, then check out this:

I have compiled this from ALL THE HELP I HAVE RECEIVED from this board. I use it on mine at work and just use customized forms that are linked with a switchboard and I set the switchboard to my opening form like Jack Cowley explained just above this reply...

Hope that helps...

Will the code that u suggest work if i want to distribute the application to a users destop that doesn't have Access as an program installed - am i going in the right direction >>>> ?

In Visual BAsic u create an EXE to do this - this is what i am attempting to do ....

Thnakyou for the excellent respone

You cannot create an EXE from you access application. You can only distribute the run time files with your db. You either have to purchase the ODE of office or use a third party add in in order to do this.
