I'm getting a write conflict in one particular field, whether I try and alter it in the Form or the table? I'm the only person using the DB, it was a shared file, but no-one else will be using it. I took off the sharing and it still won't update the field. Currently the field is storing #error. The data type is memo.

Any clues?

Thanks

Rich

Backup, backup, backup!

Work with a copy!

Very likely you have some corruption crept in. This occurs most often with memo fields. If this is the case you'll have to recreate the table structure, copy all the rows before the faulty row, copy all the rows after the faulty row, copy as much of the data in the faulty row as you can and then try to delete the offending row.

Deleting this may or may not be possible. If is is then just recreate the record. Otherwise you'll have to delete the table and use your copy. You will want to pay attention to any relationships you might have set up.

Thanks,

I managed to delete that record and all related records in other tables. The table is now fine for data entry and there was no problem re-entering the record. I've got a back-up, but had made quite a few changes since the last back-up, so now everything is okay, i'll update the back-up.
