How do I determine if user is logged onto the lan?

How do I know if my user is logged onto the lan, where the backend data resides. The front end program resides on the user's harddrive and sometimes they aren't on the lan and the program gives the message that their data can't be found.

what network Operating System are you using?
Windows? Novell?...etc.

I am using novell.

I am using a Novell network.

go to your console monitor and you should have an option to view network connections. Any one logged in should be listed there. You should also be ale to view any resources they have open.
