I am very new to Access, and I am not sure how best to ask this question, so I am going to give an example of what I want to do.
Table(Example):
Fields -- Possible Values
Date -- Date/Time
Number -- PK
Sex -- Male/Female Only (One of my fields I want on report)
Race -- W/B/H/A (White, Black, Hispanic, Asian) Other Field I want!
OK, I can create a cross-tab report to show how many males and females I have, and I can create a second report to do the same for Race also, telling me the total amount of each. What I cannot figure out how to do is to show the totals of both fields on one report.
With the table above, how do I show the sample report below?
Male: 21
Female: 18
White: 14
Black: 15
Asian: 5
Hispanic: 4
I would also LOVE to have my report displayed horizontally, with the totals being BELOW the value if possible.
When I tried to do the crasstab it would not let me add a 2nd field to the column tab, only one field. I have never done any report/subreport items.
If those are the easiest way, I also want to ask a question about criteria.... I tried to do something like:
Count([Male or Female]="Male") and tried it in alot of different syntaxes, and could never get it to work. Most times it gave me an error about aggregate function being in a expression. I know it is possible to only display one or the other, but how can I do the criteria to display one on one field and the other on another field?
I am so new at this, and this is my first post, so I am sure I am asking WAY to many questions, and probably will not understand half the replies. PLease understand that I am very new to DB work, and know absolutely nada about VB or SQL Language. I do have office 2003 pro with all office products, as well as Visual Studio .NET Academic 2003. I got the software for school, but I have not started my VB classes yet. If possible keep it as simple language wise as possible. I learn easiest from examples, and am very anxious to learn some VB code stuff. I have played with the Development environment, and understand it fine, I just do not know any languages to use in it. I do know quite a bit of AutoIt labguage, and I have heard that it is very similar to Basic, but I have no type of labguage reference for Basic or any of the C's or J's.
Thanks a Lot for any help offered!
Bill
