..........Happy New Year to all......

My Dear Friends...

I got a Problem in this new year in my database......

I have 2 tables like below...

Employees

EmpID EmpName WageRate
1 R.venu $235.00
2 K.Raju $195.00

Increment

Date EmpID EmpName Amount
04-Jan-12 1 R.venu $25.00
01-May-12 2 K.Raju $15.00

and I have a form named "Wages", it contain a text box named "WageRate"

I am trying to add old wagerate($235.00) and Increment($25.00) from today (04-Jan-12) onwards in the textbox of "wagerate" on "Wages form, but I didn't get.

please help me how to solve this.

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend a wage table, like ...
tWage
WageID
EmployeeID
ActiveDate
Wage
...and then don't store any wage information in the employees table.
Alternatively, if your system includes record keeping for the payment itself, then that table stores the history of pay rates, like...
tPayroll
PayrollID
EmployeeID
PeriodNumber
ChequeNumber
PaidDate
Wage
Overtime
OtherPay
Subtotal
Deductions
...so information in that table provides you historical information about wages, and you can freely update the tEmployee table info whenever it changes and no tWage table is required.

But to design the system such that you need to read a base amount from one table, and then--possibly--add one or more updates from a different table to calculate the wage, seems unwieldy.

Happy New Year,
Mark

Dear lagbolt, Thank you for your reply...

I am happy to know from you.

I have created a payroll database that is attached here.
