How to get top ten values

In my database I have a table with field name CONCERN CODES, where we put codes for various concerns. I need to create a graph showing only top ten CONCERN CODES. How can I do that? Please help.

Use SELECT TOP 10 TableName.FieldName

but I think that my problem is way bigger, I'm trying to show top ten for each group. For exampel I have 20 statuses and I"m trying to show just top ten. If I put top 10 in the select qry then I end up with 10 records for the 20 statuses. Any Idea?
