How to hide an option in combo box in MS Access VBA

I have two forms; a register form and an update details form.

I have a drop down on my membership type which is found on both of these forms that has an option as cancelled. I only want the cancel option to appear on the update form and want to hide it from the register form.

How do I do this?

Alter the row source for the register form

Your row source could be:
a) a value list - if so remove the item you don't want from the list
b) a type or query - if so filter the query to exclude that item

This will have no effect on your other form combobox

I'm new to access so not sure how to do it either way. Can you give me an example please?
