Good Morning all

I've inherited a database that tracks maintenance records of a number of machines, breakdowns services etc

Currently we have no means of recording whether a "job" is still live or not as each machine visit is recorded as a seperate record and is treated as closed after every entry.

We need a means of tracking ongoing issues and keeping a job "live" until it has been succesfully resolved maybe with interventions over a number of days

Can anyone point to an example of best practice for such a maintenance database (medical devices would be good ), or suggest an outline solution to my problem

Many thanks

The Master record should have the LIVE status flag.
Machine, Status, problem
Machine123, Open, not working

the tJobs table (a sub table to tMachine) would hold the work done.
Machine123, 1/1/16, repaired cable, BobSmith, closed
Machine123, 1/1/16, repaired housing, BobSmith, closed
