From the bottom of my heart, I am really sorry. @Jon the site owner should come up with a way of making rules inclusive of caps. I have learned a lot from this forum.

Umm, seriously, don't beat yourself up about it. It's not a huge deal to me.

There are 20 ways people can be offended on forums.

We could be offended at people who post the content details of a post in the subject. Or those who don't. or bad subject lines in general.
Or bad grammar. Or even sentence fragments ;)

Agree with Isaac's post, but since you took the time to apologize, apology accepted, albeit unnecessary!

And here are some cool emojis I found to make everyone's day brighter. The last one is a man winning a woman's competition.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding!!!

Read a long article about someone who was brought to tears in Florida because every year, they bring their 17 year old to a convention which is devoted to serve a population I didn't even know existed, people who believe they are some type of animal, or are very close to believing that.

Furry something or other.

Apparently, 8 times out of 10, the general fetish/delusion devolves into something sexual, inevitably. Thus, it's not appropriate for children. (There's that complicated don't-mix-kids-and-sex thing that Democrats are so confused about!)

I guess DeSantis's new law was deemed to eliminate <18 yr olds from the pool, so tears are in order for those victims discriminated against.

Think of the Hulus and Tutsis for a minute.

I swear to God, I will never again see an immigrant person fresh from Africa in a public place acting or dressed a little differently and think even for an instant, Hmm, they're kind of weird. NO. WE'RE WEIRD. Society in the USA and similar countries has become so obsessed with protecting and expanding sexual fetishes we've created entire categories of problems that don't actually exist, we're so damn bored.

I mean sheesh. If you're so bored you feel you literally can only survive if the entire globe affirms that you are a Squirrel dressed in Spandex, please, light up the crack pipe or try a gummy - at least that you can come back from and rejoin society later that night!

I don't always have problems, but when I do, they simply must be first world!

The "furries" are just grown-up kids like those who used to play "cops and robbers" or "cowboys and indians" or any other imagination-based play motif. Look at Renaissance Fairs, for example. The furries dress up in head-to-toe animal costumes, frequently furry, and probably like wearing a portable sauna if it is a Spring or Summer event. At least a couple of TV "police procedurals" based episodes on a death at a Furry convention. Usually with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor. We also cannot forget the fantasy and super-hero cosplay groups including some credible and some less-than-credible Wonder Woman types. I've seen some Japanese groups that do the "Sailor Moon" outfits complete with the big-eyed look on an oversized head. All of them trying to "step outside of their own bodies" so to speak, to be someone else for a while, to be anonymous behind your cosplay costume. For me, the costume might be The Phantom of the Opera, but only if there is a decent organ with pedals and two full keyboards.

Surely by now the 17-year-old is older than that.

@Michelle Michy - don't let it get to you. We are pretty quick to forgive and forget around here. Now that you know better, we will be unlikely to ride your case. The longer you browse this forum, the sooner you will identify the REAL bad members who richly deserve that flogging with wet noodles or whatever we are doing this year.

no, meaning the parents are crying because FL now frowns on taking your <18 yr old kids to a convention that historically has had areas and aspects of it that were overtly sexual in nature. this year, Johnny can't come to the we-are-sexy-people-dressed-as-animals convention.

i admit, there are plenty of star wars people dressing as weird stuff. the difference was apparently this organization's conventions historically DO have substantial sexual elements included in them.

From what I have heard, the "furries" are just an ordinary mix of body types, which means that sometimes a bulky costume hides bulk. So the "we are sexy people dressed as animals" is perhaps not a completely correct characterization.

No this particular convention had a history of including various sexual elements, areas, vendors, and programming.

That's the reason why they decided that they shouldn't allow under 18 anymore in order not to fall a foul of the new law. They're the ones that deemed themselves ineligible to include children
