Introducing myself - statistician and research analyst since the 1970s - I use Access, Excel, etc., as power tools to manage and maintain data for various projects. Most of all I use Access for data entry and maintenance, large numbers of subjects (individuals), longitudinal (repeated) responses or measurements - all of which become analytical factors, usually on an annual basis.

I started with Dbase in the dark ages, then FileMaker Pro. Since many projects involve schools and they generally have free/cheap access to MS Office products, I have tried my best since Office 2000 to design data entry forms etc. using Access, when I could enable local staff to collect and store the data.

I am self-taught and do not use VBA unless I find a tip/trick I can implement from another source for a specialized, limited use. I am still learning - almost daily - about database design and Access implementation. I hope to continue picking up useful skills and knowledge here.

Thanks to all of you for your support and willingness to share!
