Good morning,
Here is what I did. I had a perfectly good data entry form setup.
The form is capturing information on sailor training, and tblAT contained things like ATdescription, ATDate, ATGainingCmd.
I wanted to make sure I normalized ATPlace and ATGainingCmd, since there could be hundreds of duplicates as groups of sailors go off to the same training each year (probably description and date could be lopped off, too).
So I made a tblATPlace and a tblATGainingCmd. ATPlaceID and ATGainingCMD are foreign keys in tblAT now. tblATPlace is just an autonumber id, and then the place.
The way my form, which was based on tblAT, worked before was that I had a combo that pulled all the already-entered values that were in the tblAT so that the data enterer could CHOOSE from the combo or type a new value in.
What I'd like to do is to have a combo that now looks in, say, tblATPlace.ATPlace and throws up the already entered places, but also allows me to type in a new value, populate .ATPlace.
I'm sure this is very simple but I'm not having any luck.
Any thoughts or guidance would be very much appreciated.
John
