The primary win by Mamdani in New York is not that surprising. He was running against Cuomo, who has lost credibility. His win also demonstrated once again that the public will vote for the politician promising the most free stuff. Mamdani was making the usual liberal promises (summarized by Grok) of:
Musk through his DOGE efforts exposed that the federal government is covertly funding many of these initiatives. In what may appear to be an unrelated case: ‘Absolutely Infuriating’: Biden Admin Rushed Out $90 Billion in Green Loans After Trump’s 2024 Victory. Then there is the case of Mayor Bill de Blasio wife, Chirlane McCray, who oversaw a mental health program where it is asserted that $1 billion dollars "disappeared".
Considering that the US continues to deficit spend, federal tax dollars going to state and local municipalities for the types of programs advocated by Mamdani must be terminated. The programs Mamdani is proposing, should only be supported by New York city tax dollars. He should not be making utopian assertions in the hopes of receiving federal dollars.
