I am just thinking about deploying a SQL database with ASP.NET front end. In other threads I have been told that IIS can be used to serve up web pages.
The idea is to re-create an MS Access Database in ASP.NET/SQL and host it on a machine although not linked to the internet linked to the business LAN. From other threads I understand that people would then be able to type in the local IP into their terminal internet explorer and it would show the Database.
IIS would appear to need Windows Server 2003 machine. Another poster in another thread indicated that IIS can run on Windows XP Pro..
Can someone confirm that IIS works on Windows XP Pro ????
If anyone has any views on whether the above concept will work or any better suggestions for a system overview I'd be very interested ????
