Hello all, I've done a bit of work building myself a wonderful DB for my computer business and I wanted to make it snazzy by having a pop up window come up with my Company Logo, so I assigned the form to come up when the DB is opened. I took out the scroll bars, and then..... I disabled the close button!!!!! :banghead:

So now, I have rendered the DB totally useless.... slap me now please!! Again....

So, is there anyway I can get this form to close? It looks good, but that's all. Oh yea and the backup? Well it does the same thing.

Any help would greatly be appreciated, I have about 80 hours invested and don't want to start all over again, but I will if it isn't recoverable.

Try holding down the Shift key and then opening the db. Keep the shift key depressed until the db opens.

Never disable the CLOSE button. Trap it with a Form_Close event, perhaps... but never disable it. The Form_Close event can be canceled when your user shouldn't close anything, but you can impose a test in the event code to see if the conditions are right for allowing a closure.

In my own case, I have a separate [CLOSE] command button that does some cleanup things and then sets a flag that says "OK, user has requested a close and it is OK" (the name is shorter than that.) So my Form_Close code checks to see if the form is closing with that flag set. If it is, then I allow it. If not, I cancel the event but also put up a message box that says (something to the effect of) "See that big RED BOLD-LETTER CLOSE button? It ain't there for show, schmuck!" Since it is a government site, I have to tone that down - but nobody reads the VBA code's comments, ...
