Hi folks, need some help here, I have a form and a subform.

When I click on the command button to create a New Record and then type the customer details in the Main Form and the Order Details in the Subform, the information is not retained

i.e. when I close the Form and then re-open the Form the orders details are not saved but the customer details are.

When I re-enter the order details the information is retained this time, everything seems work ok second time round!! HELP

It seems the main form record isn't saved when you start to enter data in the sub form, how do you link the master and the child form?
What about the data you entered in the subform, are they saved without the link to the master, (try to check your table)?

Thanks JHB, I have managed to fixed it, I never added the primary id field into the main form!!! Oh the joys working with Access need to upgrade to MS SQL Server J

If you can't understand the basics of Access how do you think you can do this easier in SQL Server.

Not putting you down it is just that my little knowledge of SQL Server tells me it is far more difficult. The problem you just had could have been avoided by simply using a wizard in Access.

This is my opinion. Would love to hear yours.

You're welcome, happy to help.
Hmm - why do you think it would be easier, the MS SQL Server I know of is only for storing data, you still need an application in which you can create a kind of forms for inputting or showing the data linked proper together.
