inputing pounds and ounces...

I have table with item details...in the item details, I need to put the weight of the item in order to calculate the Price Per Pound. but the problem is that not all items are calculated by pound and some of them just need to have individual weight entered to so we could identify which is large and small...
so in a way I have to put like 2lbs or 2oz... how would I go about doing that?
later I need to divide some of them by total but not all. should I make a another field for lbs or oz?

There are a number of approaches you could take, here are three to start with
1. Have two fields, one for pounds and one for ounces. Convert these to a single value when you want to do maths on them,
2. Have a single field and just store ounces. You may need to use two unbound controls for data input and convert these to an ounce quantity for storeage.
3. Do the same as 2 but use a decimal pounds field. This might lead you to rounding differences when you want to convert back to pounds and ounces.

I think my preference would be for 2.
