Can someone help me do this, I'm trying to insert a new record for 24 columns with the same value. I know that i need to write a loop, can someone help. For example my table consists of 24 columns, I want to insert a new record and apply .5 for all the 24 collumns.

Thanks for the help.

what is the reasoning behind this?

Kodo,
The reason is for totaling purpose, I have table that gets created by a qry, every time I run the qry the table overwrites itself, for totaling purpose I need every time to add .5 value to the table. I really need to do it this way and not anyother way.

you could add another field to your make table query that stores a made up value that is nothing more than a place holder for a record. Then make all the other fields default values .5 . When the record is created , the other fields will automatically have a .5 default value.

another option is to have a update query. this way you can keep the data that you have but change it each time. not sure about the option Kodo offered you but I do know that the update query will work. just put in

[total]+.5

and it will add the .5 on to the total.

actually I think kodo's option may work better, but it is up to you.

when making a decision do not have tunnel vision on an Idea as there may be other ways that you may not have thought of
