Just created a Scaffold Inspection/Job Card database with access 2007:) seem to have conquered the forms-reports etc but can not get my head around this part: Each job has unique reference, once all the details are entered in the form-I need to call the job up each week and put a inspection date and time to it and save. How do i do this without duplicating the record. Does the weekly entry need saving in a linked form? Also i need the past weeks details on show with date/time blank ready for new entry  I hope some 1 can help out-if required I can email the database for ammendment if it is a complex mod ;)
Thanks

Assuming you can have any number of inspection dates/times for any given job, you need two tables, e.g:

Job
JobID
JobName
JobDetails
etc

Inspection
inID
JobID
inDateTime
inDetails
etc

In your database relationships, link Job.jobID to Inspection.jobID

This structure enables all inspections to be saved in one table, and jobs in another. You know which job any given inspection relates to, by the jobID in the Inspection record.

That's the first bit. Next, you need to set up a subform in your job form, which displays only those inspection records where Inspection.jobID = the jobID in your currently displayed job record. (The subformn wizard will take you through the steps.)
