It's like most other towns, it depends on which part you visit. It has its upsides and of course its low points. All in all it's more on the upside than the down. It has good restaurants, a casino, plenty of bar/restaurants on the southside of town, the two rivers merge point to form the Ohio river and a great view from Mt. Washington which overlooks the rivers and downtown Pittsburgh. Near the airport there are some nice hotels and plenty of good restaurants.
What part might you be visiting?

PS Don't forget Pittsburgh is spelled with an "h". That's kinda like a trademark!!

Sorry about the 'h'. You know I do know it's there but I guess as its not actually pronounced, you sometimes forget it. Not like Leicester my home town pronounced 'lester'
