I have search all over including this forum but there doesn't seem to be an answer to the problem. When I try to go to Microsoft support I can't get any help unless I am a volume or contract user. I am trying to link 4 tables to a data base from another access data base that gets update daily. When I try to combine any tables together in a query I get the " Invalid Name....etc. error. I cannot work with any query other than a query using one of the tables only. It won't allow me to delete the linked tables either. I have to close and delete the db through Explorer. This reall seems odd to me. I can import the tables and use them at will with no issues. Can someone point me in a direction to get help?

This may seem obvious but have you checked all the names and spellings etc to make sure they're ok?

Yes I have and as I said in my post, when I import the tables I don't have a problem with them just as they are. As I found in researching this issue that it isn't happening to a lot of people but I am not the only one and no one has found an answer yet that I have been able to find and Microsoft suppor is non existant for individuals. These are tables downloaded from a mainframe nightly to a PC in Access 2000 I believe.

I am now being force to delete the old tables and re importing each day which is not too slow, but it just seems to me I am able to link to some pretty shoddy Excel files at times and not have a problem but I can't use a linked table from Access. It doesn't seem right and, then to add insult to injury, not be able to delete them from the database without deleting the entire database in explorer.
