Is Access the Right Tool for This Scorecard?

Hi, all.
I'm about to inherit a report (basically a weekly performance scorecard) that covers a wide range of data, such as budget, production performance, man-hours, safety, etc.
Currently, the data is gathered in from several different places/people, entered into a multi-tabbed spreadsheet and then summarized on another worksheet. Of course, there are loads of formulas that are constantly getting messed up.

Being a lazy person, I'm looking for a way to make this less cumbersome.

I've no doubt that using a db will be simpler, but I'm struggling with the fact that the only common factor is the date.

Is there any reason why I couldn't/shouldn't have a Date Table, with nothing but all possible dates? I'm thinking about later on, when I need to define relationships and the date will be the "1" in the "1 to many".

I'm picturing the following tables:
Date
Production
Safety
Budget
Manning

and so on.

I know that Access can be funny about Date, does this sound like it might work?

Thanks for looking,
:rolleyes:BeckieO
