We use Access 2000. We have recently been informed we need to begin using a new program that is in Access 97. Since all of our program run in Access 2000 we are very aprehensive about having these two users move back to Access 97 just for one program. Is there anyway to run both? We have been told the program in question is not upgradeable at this time.

THanks

Thanks for the link. I'm going to give it a try. Has anyone had any experience using this method?

muppetmad,

I work in government so we have many older db's running on different version of access (97/2000/ & 2002). I have both xp and 97 installed on my machine and have only ever expierenced minor irritation errors. The most common is when a users is working on one version db and tried to open a different versions db by double-clicking an icon on the desktop. This results in an error that says the db won't open. To get past this the user must open the program the db corresponds to from the start menu (A' 97 or A 2002) and then open the application through the File menu--Open method.

This results because Windows sets a default db app (Access 97 or 2002) depending on the use and then tries to open all associated .mdb files with this app -- even though it may or may not be the right version.

To get around this we setup shortcuts to the db's that contain the path to the appropriate application file...

Also - Have you considered converting the Apps in '97 to 2002?

EDIT* Opps, just read that the app isn't currently updateable :D

HTH,
Kev
