Hi everyone,

Is that possible to build a web based form or page for people to review information in the Access database? And when people change information from the web based form or page, it gets updated in the Access database.

Thanks for any suggestions.

This exact kind of thing can be done relatively easily with sharepoint lists as long as your data is only a few thousand rows.

Thanks. Not familiar with Sharepoint at all, can Access gets linked with Sharepoint somehow?

use the PAGE funtion in acces - you can build a simple html page and place it on a server that has your back end on. you can add, delete and change data in html forms simply this way.

Are you sure this can be done in Access 2007 and above?:) Not a very wise thing to do if this functionality isn't available in newer versions of Access. Although, supported (in some way) it's not fully functional, e.g. design changes are not allowed.

oh, i use 03 and it works. not sure about the rest - apologies.

i would have assumed it was forward compatible, but knowing access probably not.

Nah, they got rid of it, which makes sense really. In 2010 there's the functionality but it's not data pages, it's more like sharepoint but without the "sharepoint".

i have 2010 at home ( got it free from work ) and noted that i also got sharepoint. havent uased them yet but it looks good from what I have read. will repot back when got to grips with it. I am also looking at having my back end access via the web for home workers ( sounds dodgy! ) so this may well be the answer.

Just bear in mind that it isn't built for big projects so it can handle a few thousands of records. I prefer sql server/mysql as backend, php as front.

Let us know how you find 2010 when you're offei with things.

well, funny you should that. i am just starting out with sql and php. installed Xampp yesterday and going through the online course. took me half a day to install it !! haha

what did you use to design your php font end ?

I don't do much web stuff anymore but I typed it all :) Look into LAMP, it's a bundled software comes with XAMPP, mySQL with an intuitive interface and other stuff.

cheers for that.....using the lynda vidoes - boring bloke but knows what hes on about. if i survive i hope to "remake" the DB i am control of into SQL so we can use it mulitpatform across sites.
