i have tried many times to see if it is possible but nobody can tell me if it is or not. My teacher couldn't do this so i'm relying on you to help me.

can you set something up in a database that will tell you if an item has been booked?

i mean if a item has been booked could you set something up like a message box telling you when the item was booked out by and by whom?

i want to know if this is possible and whether somebody could tell me how to do it

Your question is far to generic to give a single answer, rather like asking how do I set up an accounting database.
There have been examples posted here and one recently by Ally, try searching and then come back with some specific questions

If an item can have different "Status" then set up a status table with the status descriptions like "Available","Booked","Broken" etc

Then you can refer to this table in a ComboBox and allocate a status to the item.

This was discussed yesterday with a video loan example for a school project. But as Rich has suggested, you may need to post more specific detail for a more specific answer.
