LOL
I think the wine that was being used there was kind of a low alcohol type.
Alcohol is like any other tool or accompaniment to life, it can be used with discretion, or it can be used with indiscretion at which point you're not using it, it's using you..
The other 99% of the time, Jesus seems to model a lifestyle full of thoughtful, contemplative and productive moments.

So I guess, whatever works for me to achieve that is what I should probably include in my life.

Perhaps alcohol is like sex or money?

You are free to use & enjoy it, although for many, they don't use it at all--it dominates them.

...or drugs. And for some they use whatever to dominate others.

There is some evidence from DNA testing of religious relics that hallucinogens similar to LSD were used to induce religious experiences in initiates.

Uncle is there something you are trying to tell us? This might be 2nd or 3rd reference to psychedelics recently :D

I don't think so. Sex is a desire within us and we have no control over it. Your body needs it and you can not stop that desire.
The other two is gained by our life style. and as you said many don't use and even think about it. The rest do.

It wasn't the best analogy, but my point was not in the differences between them, but rather, in the similarities they share.

They are all indulged in by many humans, and they also all dominate many humans who also happen to believe that they are the ones using the thing. Not realizing in their deception that they are being used by it. Overindulgence of all three is often used by the enemy to confuse and destroy.
