Hi,
I was wondering if someone could enlighten my small brain on Jet engines?
I understand that 2000 and Xp use jet 4.0 so when an application is distributed with runtime all is OK.
Lately I've been having a few dramas with Access XP. I develop in 2000 and distribute with runtime (if its needed) but clients with AccessXP obviously don't need the 2000 runtime as XP can read the 2000 files.
Anyway, I have trawled the net and found that I need to update Jet 4.0 to SP7 (from the Microsoft site).
So, the question is....
If the Jet 4.0 update solves these minor problems, when I next send out a DB to a client with AccessXP (or any other unusual setup) is my DB altered by the jet 4.0 update or do clients who are experiencing problems have to download the Jet update?
(hope that makes sense)
If my db is altered, how is it altered? Do I need to include any additional files to the install package? Will the Access2000 runtime still be OK? Do I need to add stuff the the runtime files for this Jet 4.0 update to be effective?
Is this all neccessary?
Sorry for all the questions, if any small pieces of wisdom could be posted I would be very appreciative.
Kind regards, Rachael
