Hi all, I am creating a database with two tables: tblFamily and tblIndividual.

I need to populate a field in tblFamily - 'Names' - with names from tblIndividual.

I have a form - frmFamily - with the sub form - frmIndividual.

In sub form frmIndividual I have fields Name (text), Adult1 (yes/no), Adult2 (yes/no).

I need to concantenate (is that the right word?) Adult1 & Adult2 into field 'Names' in table tblFamily.

Can any one help please? I am thinking I need a button with VBA for Access Code running in the background. I have named my button cmdUpdate.

I look foward to your responses with anticipation. Thank you. :banghead:

If Adult 1 and Adult 2 are Yes/No fields you will not have anything to concantenate for the Names field.

The general process to achieve what you appear to be asking is Forms!frmFamily.Names = Me.Control1 & ", " & Me.Control2

My humble apologies.

frmIndividual has the following fields:
Individual_ID, Long Integer
Family_ID, Long Integer
Individual_Name, Text
Individual_Work, Text
Individual_Mobile, Text
Individual_Email, Text
Individual_Adult_1, Yes/No
Individual_Adult_2, Yes/No
Individual_Child, Yes/No
Individual_DoB, Date/Time
Individual_Membership, Text

On thinking about your reply Isskint perhaps I don't need the yes/no fields I could just use the Adult_1 and Adult-2 fields.

I was using the yes/no fields to help sort in reports.

Thanks.

Hi Again, I'm still stuck after too many hours trying different things. Still needing help please.

I have my main form frmFamily which includes Family Surname, Phone details, address, and so on.

I have a subform frmIndividual Subform which I am wanting to use to list all the individual first names of family members along with their individual email addresses, mobile numbers, dates of birth etc.

I am trying to create a phone directory of the families so am wanting to take the adult names from the subform, join them together, and place them in one field on frmFamily.

I am trying to do this by using a checkbox in the subform alongside each individual to show adult 1, adult 2, or child.

I can't help but think that I'm doing this the wrong way.

Can someone help please?

Many thanks.

Gene
