Kick users out of a db

I have a front end which is local on about 20 users machines. the backend resides on a shared drive. sometimes during the day i need to makes edits to the tables on the backend. i cant edit them if one or more users is in the db. how can i boot that user out of the db?

This is one of the persistent problems with a multi-user database.

Create a hidden form on the FE with a timer event, say every ten munutes which checks the vlaue in a BE table which has a message which the FE displays saying when the FE in going to be shutdown for BE maintenance. Let the same form shut the FE program down when that time has occurred.

Otherwise, use the "sneaker net."
