Laptop Question

Not sure where to post this, but trying to learn from you experts out here if I can upgrade my laptop which is a GATEWAY PRO 9300. All I do or want to do with this is surf the net but currently wayy slow. Suggestions?

How full is the hard drive? How many processes to you have running at the same time? How many icons are shown in the lower right hand corner by the clock?
