laptop security

Help MEEEEEE!!!!!!!
hi, how can i set the settings on my laptop to enable the security settings while i am working from my router so noone else has access.

think this is meant to be about access
but if you go into the properties of your wireless network you can change security settings etc
think WPA most secure, but if you want to go on DS wifi (you may not) you'll have to use WEP, which is less secure

i do however only have the ability to enable wep. when i do so it asks me for a key, which i would have thought would have been automatic, it isnt. anyways, thanks again

If it asks you for a key, then you have to supply it with the key that the wireless router was set up with and then after that point it will be automatic.

Is there a sticker on the bottom of the router with the key written on it?

you make up your own key so that only you can get onto the network
mines pretty simple but memorable lol
basically its not needed, but otherwise people can get onto your network, if you had a key theyd need to enter it to be able to get onto your network and they wouldnt know what it was
but like the person above said youd only really need to enter it once cos after that it would be automatic and you can change it thereafter
