I’d like to get a really good grounding in Access VBA programming. Over the years I’ve encountered it only in a piecemeal, haphazard fashion and am constantly confused by how to go about accomplishing particular tasks. The syntax especialy is confusing. I bought the “Access 2000 VBA Handbook” by Susann Novalis, but was thoroughly numbed by her starting with over 300 pages of theory and complete descriptions of underlying structure. Definitely not written for self-learning. I also have the “Access Cookbook” from O’Reilly. That’s good for doing particular tasks, but not for getting practical skills. I programmed for over 20 years in COBOL, so I'd like to get back to having control over what I make.

Can anyone recommend a book, CD-ROM, online class or real class for learning Access VBA?
I live near Chicago, Illinois and still use Access 2000 at home and at work.
